Most of the Discoveries I have made have been embedded within my Connie Marshall Collection for a few years well before I launched Connie's new Fan site.  At that time, I was simply "sitting on the information" while I continued growing my Collection and researching new ideas and clues into the Artistic Legacy of Connie Marshall.  However, upon launching of this site, I immediately revealed many of those Discoveries for the first time, both small and large.  For the most part, those Discoveries have been scattered throughout the pages of this site, although I do point them out within my Commentaries.

Now, I realize that it would only be fair to point out the valuable contributions of this site as one which is always looking to the best interest and advancement of the Artistic Legacy of Connie Marshall.  One way to accomplish that is to consolidate and list all the contributions of this site which is solely supported by my personal Connie Marshall Collection and my own devoted and tireless research.  Enjoy!

1)  Connie Marshall Articles

     Posted on August 28, 2010

Connie's Articles:  I have found articles written by the hand of Connie Marshall.  Clearly, Connie was multi-talented.  These articles range in topics from her Patriotism to stories about her Stand-in, a trip to Louisiana, various movies, and even a small very nice article about an important achievment of her older sister Pamela.  I will make this material available as soon as I determine a method for posting it all.  I will likely post them one at a time.  This is a terrific discovery as it reveals the personal views of Connie Marshall while in her career.

2)  "Sunday Dinner for a Soldier" - A Tradition

  Posted on September 5, 2009

The first reported event of providing dinner to soldiers was in New York City during December, 1918.  It was a community effort for returning soldiers from WWI.  Since then, the USO had organized and solicited to the community to take in soldiers for dinner.  However, after the production of "Sunday Dinner for a Soldier" in 1944, the solicited goodwill of having service members for Sunday Dinner transformed into a Tradition.  On February 19, 1945, the Host [Guest Producer] of the Lux Radio Theater, during his introduction of the radio broadcast version of "Sunday Dinner for a Soldier", stated that "...throughout the land, American homes have opened their doors and hearts to lonely service men on leave...".  That tradition has since expanded to include Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day Dinner.  An exerpt from that broadcast may be heard in the Media page of this site.  More information on the credibility of the Host is also found there.  And, in her movie Debut role in "Sunday Dinner for a Soldier", Connie Marshall played a major role in the evolution of the Tradtion of welcoming Soldiers for Dinner.  A Traditional First!

3)  "Home Sweet Homicide" - Motion Picture Edition

  Posted on September 5, 2009

The book "Home Sweet Homicide" [Copyright 1944] by Craig Rice was published by Tower Books as a Motion Picture Edition with a first printing in August 1946.  The book Cover  has scenes from the movie "Home Sweet Homicide" and includes images of Connie Marshall in four different scenes.  Another significant fact is that the motion picture Cast is included on the fourth page of the book.  Yes, namely, Connie Marshall as April Carstairs.  A better view of the Cover and the Cast page may be seen in the Lobby Cards / Special page of this site.  A Hard Bound First!

4)  "A Tree Grows in Brooklyn", Hallmark Playhouse

  Posted on November 27, 2008

I have included Connie's radio production of "A Tree Grows in Brooklyn", Hallmark Playhouse.  It was Broadcast on April 28, 1949, at CBS Radio Studio in Los Angelos, Ca.  I will credit the Connie Marshall Society for disclosing that information.  However, I actually had it incorporated within my Peggy Ann Garner Collection.  Peggy Ann Garner earned her Oscar for her performance in that movie in 1945.  It may now be found in the Media page at the bottom.  A First!!  Because I actually had it!  Enjoy!

Trivia:  This radio show was broadcast on Connie’s Birthday.  I believe she celebrated her 16th Birthday.  A very nice Birthday Gift!  [Submitted by a Dedicated Fan]

5) William Steig, Connie's Modeling Project

  Posted on October 21, 2008

This was clearly the first and only mention and showcase of Connie's modeling project for the great Artist and Cartoonist, William Steig.  No other site nor source brought you this.  I discovered this fact in 2002 when I found and acquired the large article in the April, 1942 issue of Life magazine.  Admittedly, at that time, I did not realize the great significance of that discovery until I began to learn that there was very little available information on Connie's modeling career.  Then I realized that my searching efforts had rewarded me with a very rare and valuable piece of history.  A First!!!

6) Norman Rockwell Illustration, Connie's Modeling Project

  Posted on October 21, 2008

I will credit the Connie Marshall Society for their mention of a photo in which Connie was sitting on a park bench with Marilyn Monroe and another mention in their official bio in which Connie appeared in a Norman Rockwell portrait in Good Housekeeping in 1942.  However, it was my Collection and this site which first announced and produced the exact Issue of September, 1942.  For the first time, this site also displayed and showcased the actual image of the Illustration, 'The Meeting', in which Connie appeared and provided my own commentaries to that effect.  So, I identified the precise issue of Good Housekeeping, the title of the Illustration as 'The Meeting', and I showcased the actual magazine Illustration with the short story it accompanied, all for the first time anywhere.  Three Firsts!!

7) The Twonky, Connie's Character Role Name.

  Posted on October 21, 2008

Virtually, every site which displays Connie's Filmography always identifies her role name in The Twonky as Operator #2.  I however have identified her actual role name as 'Suzie', the Cheer Girl with Football Players.  I have further explained that I made the discovery by watching closely at the movie footage and seeing one of the players say to Connie "...Shut Up, Suzie!"  I have also identified Connie's actual scenes in which she appears.  I have done so by providing short movie clips, on this site, of those two and only scenes.  Once Again, Two Firsts!!

8) The Shrek Connection

  Posted on October 21, 2008

This connection is primarily an entertainment relationship between William Steig and his most popular creation, the original Shrek.  Simply put, Connie and Shrek, both share a common famous beginning.  I view it as a link in Connie's "Artistic Genealogy". Another First!
