The girls receive a letter from their parents informing them that they will be performing in the local town. Mikie (Connie) is excited, but Iris (Mona) is devastated by the news. Mikie, at first, has difficulty understanding but quickly realizes that Iris is ashamed that their parents are Vaudeville performers. Mikie let's her have it stating that Iris is indeed ashamed of their parents. It is Mikie who informs their parents. I really like Connie's performance in this scene. I like the way Connie goes through the transition of happiness to shock and disbelief and the display of courage to strongly confront her sister.
